The Poverty Conference
August 13th at 8 am
Keynote speakers for the event will be Fredi Lajvardi with “Spare Parts", and Jeff Henderson of the Food Network
The Junior League of Longview's Poverty Conference to be held on Tuesday, August 13th has had a recent speaker change. The event will remain the same date and time, (Tuesday, August 13th from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM at LeTourneau University’s Belcher Center). However due to an unexpected eye surgery and restrictive travel for several weeks, keynote speaker Jeannette Walls will not be speaking at this year’s conference. She is truly disappointed in letting people down by not being part of Poverty Conference 2019.
The Poverty Conference is a one-day conference that highlights a nationally recognized keynote speaker whose work and expertise reflects issues of local community. The Poverty Conference brings community partners, educators, professionals and citizens together to create common conversation, strategies and vision regarding poverty. We hope to increase awareness and spur action among our community. Since the conference began, we have seen partnerships grow, development of new programs and services for our community and city wide initiatives to address homelessness.
